No sooky ****ing ****s ?

I did my Knee a few months ago, haven't had my first surf back but went for a body bash yesterday. Been about 8weeks after the surgery. Recovery was slower then I hoped. Geez it felt good to be back in the ocean. My missus even said I was happier..

Left shoulder requires rebuild, same as what I had done on my right. Remove bursa, grind the top off the ball and fit new synthetic cap, remove calcification. After 3 surfs today in easy small conditions it's shot, very disappointed but motivating to get it sorted out, my right shoulder after the same rebuild is better than ever.

Been out of water for 4 months after hand op was on the mend and pinched a nerve in my neck which sent pain down arm and pins n needles in thumb n forefinger $500 in physio then two cortisone injections and it's about 80pc better still tingling fingers and mild arm pain plus heading to Sumatra in ten days. Taking lots of drugs with me. Since turning 50 had too many surf retardant injuries now I'm just surfing retarded

Meniscus SP ?

As a keen surfer who looks forward to surfing weekends my injury 15 weeks in has been painful more so than a broken leg and thats a lot of pain 24/7 every day, its also zapped my mental state of mind to be honest, its been draining.

Ouch,my cortisone injection did nothing and I've spent close to 900 on physio but I think and I mean think I'm feeling improvement thanks to my physio and gym recovery work I've been putting inhale the guys are asking WTF are you train like that, hit the upper body,I just go nah I've got to work on this and get it right.

Yeah that was part of it but it was the other bits that held up my recovery.

Did a similar thing with upper back injury late 2015 from lifting big pot plants out of my Dad's place in to a trailer.
Nerve pinch, actually took myself to casualty 2 days later to check I wasn't having a heart attack.
Fingers numb, arm pain for about 6 weeks, physio, anti inflams did nothing.
Got some steroids prescribed, all better in 3 days.
At 55, it's a matter of "What is hurting now?" rather than "Is anything hurting?"

Cortisone gave me very little relief as well, I've had at least 6-8 over the last 3-4 years and at best I get maybe 1-2 weeks of minor relief.
Problem is it's only tricking your body by blocking pain, not feeling so much pain can give a false sense of security that you can do more than you should and you'll end up worse off.

Lacey :- Planter fasica tendonitis. My history - After working an office job for 23 yrs I did a monty python "now for something completey different", & started mowing lawns. At the time I was pretty fit IE:- rode the bike. ran, swam etc. But, daily grind of mowing quickly gave me an idea of FIT...OK after about a yearof the sore heal (PF) hit me hard, I mean when I stopped working in the arvo & cooled down walking normally was NOT an option. The mornings were worse until I warmed up! Sound familiar.. So I tried every****inthing, yeah heel pads, bowen, yadda yadda, all no good. Stopped the whole process & thought I gotta see a medico who does sport people who train alot & get injuries. So started with my GP & got a referal to a Sports Surgeon. I kid you not.. ****in revelation!! He sent me for xray & scans & diagnosis was "referal pain from my back" & gives me a set of stretching exercises to relieve it. I did the exercises as requied & the PF vanished..I contuined mowing for 10 yrs, continued the exercises & no pain. This Dr has kept me going for 20+ yrs now, thru rotor cuff probs, back & just about everything else. Most recently my L5/s7 (lumbar back probs) with exercises & I'm a lot better (for 65) but ..I can still surf!! .. So if you can try & track down/get referred to a DR like mine. Good luck, BUT stop spending $ on people who don't understand long term sport/work related injuries, you'll save a ****e load of & in the long run. PM me if ya wanna. Uncle-T.

I had that planter fascia tendinitis a few years back. My doctor told me to stop getting around in thongs and bare feet so I started wearing better more supportive footwear and it got better pretty quick.

More supportive footwear didn't help me and I wreaked a good pair of boots

Doctor was surprised I didn't go in for 8 days through embarrassment for being such a dickhead. Chainsaw injuries are not pretty. All healed now , well almost. No bone or tendon damage. I was lucky and I didn't have to call a toe truck. Lol

Mate McHenry who many of you know well through this forum is about to go under the knife in the next 30 minutes for a second operation on a troublesome wrist. I know many of you would want to join me in wishing him a successful outcome and a speedy recovery so he can get back into the water asap on his beaut new Pieter board!
