8 5 if it is his usual he has heaps though so hard to tell.

Would have loved to be a fly on the wall at .......... when he was out there I am sure the crowd was not welcoming.

Board looked a bit wide for the conditions. Would have be good to see him on a 20 something wide one. Nice wave no way I would try it on a sup though to much crowd grief.

Dave rips good find dogman

Thanks dogman nice find, Lived and worked out there for a couple of years in the late nineties and often dream of hitting it with a sup. Crowd seems a bit more hectic now but Dave is ruling it. Cool.

One thing I know is he doesn't let any crowd get in the way, who would argue anyway , rather big human, especially when he's angry.

Good vid!
Break looks like Strickos at Rottnest in WA. Surfed it heaps in to 80's and back then you would be looking for someone to surf with. Now it's chockers all the time I hear. Getting caught on the inside is not fun. On a SUP it would be tough!

great sup surfing vid, although the board looked like a big thong, IMO he would rip alot more if the board was on more of a "surfboard' design sup in order to max out the positions in the wave he was able to get into, but he must be one physically strong bloke to crank the turns he did

+1

And with all the boards he must be able to chose between, if that is the one he wanted to ride in those conditions then who are you to say it is wrong!

Spot on find there Dogman
Can only dream about surfing backhand like that,...insane!!!! Think the big bloke probably knows what works best for him and as far as I can see the parts of the vid where he is supposed to be surfing a bit sketchy would be sketchy on anything. Pretty critical positioning I reckon. As far as the crowd thing, I suppose "Big Dave" would pretty much fit in anywhere he wanted, just quietly. Fairly commanding presence even before he starts blowing buckets!!
Cheers

Sik vid dogman, best sup one I've seen on Youtube yet. Unless you were there on the day surfing better than Dave you just look like a tool trying to say his board was too wide. Yeeeeeeeeeeewwwwwww

Thanks for posting, just watched second time as I must admit I two thought he was on two big a board. But what do I know? after viewing second time round I'd have to say not. His last wave sealed it for me, wow what a backhand.

I still think he looks a little scetchy...whether back hand or not. And as for saying that no matter what type of board (ie short board or long board) it would be the same.......stop kidding yourself, thats just a joke.

for my money on his backhand he use of paddle combined with surfing technique -ie compression, extension with rotation is exceptional.
he uses the paddle on the bottom turn, takes it out to get body torque as he comes around and then has this neat way of bringing the paddle into use to as he extends on the way up. and the paddle is in perfect placement for the compression stage off the top.

not to many people are getting those sort of turns in on their backhand on a sup.
perhaps a few should have a real hard look at what he is doing

i know i've taken note.

Dogman, I haven't seen much of Dave's stuff, but from what I've seen of your vids, your style is much more fluid....I'm betting you would have givin it a good crack.
