Yep you are right again DJ. They are sailing and surfing "lanes" in kona winds. It is the break downwind from Hookipa on Maui. Its normally sailed on stbd tack but a few times a year they get those conditions. There a are a few vids of laird SUP at hookipa around. He seems to ike thelong boards and big waves.

That's right Scotty..I knew it was Hookipa..Well the waves just to the left of Hookipa..and I'd forgotten that it was called Lanes.

It's all coming back to me now..It must be old age setting in..

Some of those 'off the lips' are HUGE.. ..I'm surprised Jason is still in one piece.

I hope we see some of this in Lairds new dvd..That guy is unbelievable.

Brooko,
I see your dilema. You could do this:

1/ start a wind sport (windsurfing or kite surfing) that you like so you can ride when its windy.

2/ buy either a special downwind board or a large sup so you can do downwinders when its windy.

3/ go normal surfing, even if its windy, if you have waves its still ok for a surf.

3/ take it as it is and just ride when its not windy and do the garden.

Regards,
Scott

You only made 3 points... wheres the fourth?
I reckon that whenever there are waves, just find a way to ride them!
