Cabin fever setting in... winter storm "Juno" has been shaking my house for 24 hours... 18 more to go. Gusts every hour past 65 mph Snowing the whole time.... no one is moving. Power and food and internet making it easy.
So... we have had a lot of great waves this past week... so I thought I'd share the stoke. a lot of wind... some sessions up to 35 mph a lot of cold... -8 c to 2 c My buddy Eddie braved the cold to shoot many sessions since last Monday.
Good winter stuff on Cape Cod, so I figured it might bring some summertime cheer to my friends in Oz.
Hi Kuz....Winter surfing is a gift... there is no feeling that replaces the satisfaction after a good cold weather session... you would love it.
Helmy... I took out my "girly" board because it was only shoulder high at the start and I had been feeling wobbly on my smaller boards in all the wind. The Alana was so much fun when it got bigger, I didn't swap out.
Great pics, Mr Creek. Gotta love cold surfs, thanks for sharing. Not for me, too much of a softy!! I better put on some more block out, don't want to get sunburn!
So use the board to get up to speed and then dive off(maintaining speed) and use the paddle o plane .Fantastic idea Seriously ,Southern ocean winter can be full on ,but I take my hat ( or should that be hood ) off to you.Nice work and true commitment.
Everyone in New England surfs in these conditions... it's wave season and wetsuits work
Meanwhile... storm "Juno" lived up to the hype and for 2 days no one moved.
Day 3, I could not get to a beach to even see the erosion and reshaped beaches, but I did find a clear parking lot at a flat-water launch.
Here are some pics... vid coming soon, that includes footage of a bird flying by me underwater... actually flapping his wings... cool as @*!^... and I had the GoPro on him
Ahhhh open water... and pure glass. Winter can be soooo peaceful
Superb stuff creek! You and your mates are an inspiration to many. Winter paddling looks surreal in the ice n snow. And your surf shots tell us you gotta love surfing to get out in those conditions. Thanks for showing your world.
