So, bought a Coreban Icon 10' for me and a Soutpoint 9'8 for my wife as out first SUPs. Not generally good beginner boards but definately boards that we wont outgrow so there was lots of wobbling and falling at first but after on 2 hours we are def getting the hang of it. Took them out for the first real time this morning as there was only a metre difference in the the tide this morning as opposed to the normal 5 - 6 metre difference in Darwin. What awesome fun we had, catching 1 foot waves with really bugger all push behind them and being able to ride them for a good 100m - although it did take a few waves for me to figure out that it didnt exactly handle like my shortboard!! Better still - no crocs lurking around today! Anyway thought I would share my tiny wave story with you southerners that seem to cleaning up with the monster swell and thank everyone out there who gave advice when I asked for it.

Yeah no crocs, well no big ones anyway. I think its better a croc that a huge shark though.
Even though the Icon was a bit tricky at first I'm starting to get the hang of it after a few hours and at 100kg can paddle and ride quite well on it. With a bit more practice and experience on where to start paddling for the wave it will be perfect. My wife's Southpoint is perfect for her. She's tall, slim, and the board is rediculously fast when she paddles.
It is great to get out there with my wife and was awesome to see her standing up an paddling - even letting out a shriek when she paddled into her first wave :) Even though it costs a bit to get set up for SUP its money well spent - oh and a good warmup for the 10 days in Bali we have next Friday :)
Yeah, someone has to test the water :) If we had surf here and no crocodiles it really would be paradise. I guess there has to be a trade-off for the warm water all year round.
