I thought Iwould share my fist attemt at shaping and glassing a board. I stareted by looking up racing yacht and making a top and side templates. Ordered 1 big block of foam cut it in half and epoxied in the stringer. Then I started shapng covering my shed in foam, not as much fun as I fist thought. Ordered some 4oz carbon from USA (took about a month to get). After sealing the board I stuck the carbon on, then two 6oz glass top and bottom. Then a quick sand and onto the hot coat. Turned the shed white again with the sand. Couldnt wait so went for a quick paddle, totally wraped so much quicker than a smaller board. Now fo the question should I paint and if so what type of paint should I use.
The board is 14 foot long by 30.5" wide as I am a larger person
Just use acrylic car paint - about 3 cans should do it. It's cheap, easy and isn't too toxic. You will also see any small cracks or dings easier before they take in too much water.
Spray it white - better for heat - and give it a good sand with 240-320 grit beforehand.
Good work ! You have already done so much i say finish it well . I suggest some 2 part (pack, pak) polyurethane paint , the cheapest "industrial " type you can get there (wattyl?) , you should undercoat it with a high build primer first , spray/dust a guide coat after cure (matt black acyrilic aerosol paint is good for that ) then block sand (aggresively 120 grit dry to 300ish wet ) the primer smooth ,and then the thinnest topcoat of regular paint you can get away with ,You will probably need to spray each layer twice unless you know some trick to flip it whilst wet. Use a light topcoat colour so it doesn't "cook" like white or light grey. Are you going to use some type of EVA foam deckgrip on it ?
pardon my ignorance but what is the hole in the middle of the deck for ?

Thats a breather.
Love your work thinking of the same basic shape as a custom in the future
