*Three* cameras? Wow. No wonder your vids are so good.

You have invented a new sub-genre of SUP: Video SUPing :)

The words DJ and "downwind drama" go together like Romeo and Juliet... ;)

It was a struggling windsurfer who had packed up his rig and decided to try and paddle back to shore laying on his windsurfer but soon found himself going backwards fast in the strengthening wind (30 knot range).. He was pretty buggered when we saw him waaay out.. The others in the DW group tried to help him.. While they did that I headed off to alert the nearby life saving club and they took off in their rescue boat to get him.. and let the others continue on the downwinder.. This was from Mark on Facebook..

"And THANKS DJ for sending out the LSC rescue IRB. I was just about spent paddling with the windsurfer guy on the back of my board. Couldn't have been happier to hand him over to the lifesavers and their IRB. Good team effort guys to get him back safely with all his gear as well!!"

Obviously you would not set off a PLB willy nilly.......but maybe if someone was nearly drowning it would be nice to have the PLB option?
They only cost half the price of a decent paddle

Or a waterproof phone, in a waterproof case does a pretty good job to call the water police for a free ride

But safety is mostly an afterthought
Port Phillip bay has pretty good reception in most places

If you are out paddling - please dont forget your life jacket, communication device, and consider wearing something bright, let someone know when and where you are going. Maybe even splash out on a star rescue mirror and mini flare?

If you cant swim back, maybe dont go that far offshore??

Sorry to hijack your thread. DJ - you need more cameras!

well said risky.....people going a bit off shore need to have a back up plan or two........very unprepared to say "oh my gosh.......something went wrong!!!"
