Not when you're trying to crank a sharp off the lip, to be able to head straight down, and go into a hard bottom turn.
At that point, her toes will be on the opposite rail, on the other side of the stomp pad.
Well done............. assuming she pulls it off.

It would be a much better pic if she moved her hand & paddle out of the shot.

[edit] Maybe move them to the right to cover Frodo's foot? That would have also stopped the critiquing of her hanging off the back rail.

I was going to say the same thing, but I watched a video of her and she actually moves her foot around like this on a wave. Wow. On a shortboard there is no time to move feet mid turn if you want to minimise transition time. But I guess on a sup everything is slower and delayed and you have time to do this. I wouldn't say she cranks hard turns, but nonetheless it seems it's a valid technique. I guess if you need to position feet to those extremes (hanging heel off rail) maybe you should think about a lower volume board with much more refinement, particularly in the tail.

hi, i just put this technique into action on my log on the weekend and got the thing hooking around nicely. why i didn't consider doing on the log before hand i'll never know.

you need to do this on a wide board. technically she should have her front foot on the other side of the board for that turn

on a short board in that situation you would use the heel of your back foot and the toe of your front foot to hook that turn. because the short board is narrow thats all you need to do. its a diagonal affect with the out side foot controlling the power/turning created from the back foot.

this is one of the basics of hp surfing.

I don't know how you guys have time to think and do this stuff while surfing the wave....im just trying to stay upright!

you can practise it on a normal skateboard- tic tac ing- good fun too
