Probably if you are a learner & the board is big enough to float you & its really really really cheap "go for it" especially if they are throwing a paddle in as well.

I'd like to hear what others think about "resale value" because I don't think there's going to be much difference between the two.
Say you buy a new Naish, Starboard or (insert name of Co) for $1500+ then buy a paddle for $350+ so you've spent $1850.
Or buy a Sunny King or some other "no name" brand for sub $1000 and more than likely score a paddle too.
Then go into a shop you've bought your big name brand sup from. Are you going to get more than a $1000 trade in?
May have lost $500.
So use the Sunny King or whatever no name brand sup and then sell it on Ebay or the classifieds for $400-500.
At this price it will realistically be snapped up by a budget focused buyer pretty fast.
Not a lot of difference and you may still even have a paddle and even a bag that you got with the cheapie.
I'm not trying to argue in favour of cheap brands simply saying that I don't think the difference in resale value is much.
