wondering if I could get some advice on doing a brushed carbon finish

I am currently building a sup and would like to do a finish like the starboard brushed carbon.
I am not real sure on the construction proces but think it goes like...

??? put a sanding layer of glass on as the last layer and use white pigment in the epoxy.
??? Then you sand back.

...either that or you glue on some acid wash jeans from the late 80's

Is that on the right track?
What weight glass should I use for the sanding layer?

Also would you go 1 or 2 layers of carbon on deck (i am thinking 2)?

Construction is innegra/cork/carbon, gettng ready to do the carbon so thought i had better check in case you use a white pigment for this also.

Hi mate,

I think in line with what David has opined you could also incorporate kevlar into the construction. The carbon does demonstrate lack of flexibility which is contra to what you are looking for when the board is eventually being used.

Qcell filler...that makes heaps of sense, it seemed like a waste to layup a layer of cloth and then sand it away.

Ghost4man thanks for the suggestion of kevlar i have been thinking of going for a kevlar rail tape if I can find some. I am kind of committed to going carbon top and bottom as I bought 20m of it! (it seemed cheaper to buy more)
