In my school days we had sailing as a sport, think it was a flying 11.

That lead to sunday racing on a cheap VJ with banana boards.

Sold my power boat and started crewing on an S97 at 36 yo.
8 weeks later having been bitten hard by the sailing bug, I bought a S&S 39.
best decision I've ever made.

My first was a foldable kayack with a small main and jib, my dad baught it to me in the 70's and I used to sail it during the family sumer camping trips to the Adriatic see, then sailed a bit on my mate Laser and discovered windsurfing!

Started as middle hand on lightweight and heavy weight sharpies.
Then skippered,
Moth
Ok dinghy
Farr 3.7
Flying 11
Ns 14
420
Status 19
Endeavour 24
Then a couple more Ok dinghies and two Finns. MW 26 then the Currawong 30. I had two boats at the same time for a fair while, usually had an OK at the same time as several of the others while the kids were growing up, then they had their own Ok's and Finns.

Timber Manly Juniors
Spirals
F11s
Lasers - how can a boat this uncomfortable be so popular?
Sabres - twice, it was cheap fun

Bow on:
Hood Halvo 25 JOG - wet, wet and sometimes we got wet as well
Cav 37 - offshore -big mast head chute and dip pole gybes, messy when it went wrong - fantasy land's fault of course.....
Farr 40 - Southport and Coffs
Cole 37 - S2H
Far 43- Sydney to Hobart became Sydney to Wollongong when mast submitted to gravity

Mirror with the family
Spacie 20 - in the big time!

As a youngster, grew up on Careel 18's and 22's. learnt to sail on Sabot, Viking and Hobie. Started my sailing again a few years ago, bought a moring minder careel 18 and restored it. Sold that after 5 years and got an NS 27.

Beautiful traditionally built 22footer, all celery top pine, varnish and brass, gaff rigged, tan sails and all :). Nice to look at but a pig to sail...retractable keel and a flat bottom was good, could get up into creeks, put in onto the beach, glide across the shallows while most had to bump across or wait on the tide...
