Worth a look but the taxes could be a killer if vessel has been imported. They're based on yacht value not purchase price. Upkeep on a 57 to me is a bit daunting. Enough on my 39.
Boat is selling by auctioneer. I believe the auctioneer has to provide clear title to the goods, with nothing owing, but any buyer should check that this is the case.
Half the rudder is missing, looks like some sort of grounding, I wonder if there is structural damage. Don't like the chances of that bowthruster still working. Nav instruments have been ripped out. The electric furler has seen better days and may have to be replaced. I assume the list of seized and broken things will go on...
Note that the video does not look at the keel/hull joint. Maybe the diver did not know that could be critical? Looks like the rudder damage was a sacrificial failure, part of a design to ensure the rudder stock does not pull out of the boat and sink it.
Thats alot of boat at the money, even with another $100 k spent, you'd have a very capable vessel. Id suggest the internal fitout is basic, as there was a lot of drugs in their and that would be a big part of cost..

I wonder how the duty would be calculated...if any..as its a seizure? Will do some digging. That will be the issue I recon. Would suit private owner and not a flipping option as the boat will always be at a discount due to the very public grounding..... Minimum drop the keel / rudder stock out and replace all fittings/ survey NDT/ X-ray keel fixing area hope no bearing/ gearbox / prop shaft damage. I would count as a minimum 100k contingency works to get it to a seaworthy base line, not counting Nav / standing rigging / sail condition. Will go and have a look though. Or just drop the mast and have a cool motor cruiser with the VW TD engine...
Not sure what it went for, but assuming it went for about 250k, adding 11% auction fee, 10% Import duty and 5% GST on customs estimated value would see you handing over about 340k before you can step aboard and start any repairs.?
Maybe Victor decided to buy it back rather than breaking someone's knee caps.

I asked the auctioneer about import duty and he said there would be none to pay as it has been seized and the Government own it. Don't know about the GST though....
