Yeah, and the answer is not very well. You can't tighten them properly cos the pin hole has to always line up in the same place so they typically have shim washers under the nut. Better to replace with a castellated nut.

Have your mate hold something up behind the nut while you tap out the pin to absorb the blows!

If it's a tapered pin it will only come out in one direction

you could cold chisel it off with a shape chisel on one side and then pin punch it
Reminds me to buy a s/s castellated nut for mine Ive a nyloc on the end at the moment with no prop I was go9jg to be lazy and drill a split pin hole through the nut and prop shaft.
So many jobs to do

Is that nut of yours Sir Jman still hanging off a Clansman?

It sure is HG. Time to sand her down, give her some minor waterline blister treatment and a fresh lick of paint before I send her into the blue.

The Jotun ablative anti-foul held up well after two years and the propspeed was not in terrible condition either; although I cavitated a lot coming into the slip and the squall came in and started unintentionally sailing a bit trying to nose into the wind.

Next trip to King island where I didn't make it last time, then I'd probably be inspired to get to the nut again. Such beautiful sailing around Tasmania.

Ok, maybe we can convoy. I've a friend that wants to rock climb at deal island.

24hrs Queenscliff to refuge, then a full day sail to deal from refuge.
