I think the inland side of Straddie, Moreton Island and Frazer island are the Perfect venues for what the Water Tribe do in Florida every year,
Only regs are , Gotta push the boat into the water yourself.

I think it would be an awesome idea Gary, I'd enter something like that in a heartbeat.
Hmmm...the push off the beach thing....I just need to turn up a couple of days before it starts with the kids spade and bucket

There is the annual "Bay to Bay Race" up the great Sandy Straits from Tin Can to Hervey.

I have done the straits a few times but not the race.

The Great Sandy Straits are my playground that I am busting to revisit soon.

If you ground it doesn't really matter because they are the Great SANDY Straits.
