I hate boat hooks and poles! I would prefer to jump on dock with a line in my hand rather than having poles and hooks trying to do the job. Anyway that's just me!

It is me also. Like the Mexicans say "We no need no stinking gadgets."

Looks like a sexy piece of kit though.

Not a clever routine when sailing solo though! I prefer to stay on deck.

That's a clever piece of kit though. On my previous yacht that was much lighter and easily blown about when mooring I had a boat hook made from an old game fishing rod blank. The hook was stainless and in a shape like the old lamb hook. Had about 30 feet of nylon rope attached so that if I got in strife I could hang back on that if it all went pear shaped. The idea being if I turned up to my mooring in adverse conditions I could sail past the buoy and hook on from the cockpit having already led the rope through the bow. I never did get to use it.

Explain how a boat hook is useful when sailing solo? I always have one one deck to retrieve my hat or collect treasures but never really have any other needs?
Picking up moorings can be useful although I tend to use my foot for that job Not sure that will work on the new boat though!
i prefer to avoid moorings anyway.
