Hey all... 5 days short of 2 months after setting eyes on Mojombo, I have completed her purchase.

Bit of a different feel being a boat owner now... thanks to a couple of people here for some tips over the past few months.

Thanks guys... was a big move to make but am looking fwd to the rewards. I'm hoping to cut my teeth on her in about a ft nights time when I'll be sailing her up to Lonny fm hobart with the previous owner. Then she will be home. Next step... learn to sail. Lol.

All Wauquiez boats look the goods, I place them on the same plane as I place Amel's. Both Henri's, Amel and Wauquiez knew how to design and or build a good boat.
Regarding Wauquiez boats, I've always been a fan of the Centurion but not so much of the Deck Salon version.

She's an 88 centurion 42 by Wauquiez - pronounced vo-key-ay. I picked her up in Hobart from a couple that have been circumnavigating with 2 kids for the past 5 years. Google their blog via the boats name.

Shes grp, teak deck in pretty good condition, solidly built, 2 cabins with doubles and a cabin with single bunks. Electronics are pretty low drag and older than most but sufficient from what I can tell. 50hp perkins. Hydraulic back stay and 2 check stays. No mains battery charger but 240 and 12v throughout. 2 x heads. Needs a bit of work in the future such as some of the standing rigging to be replaced due to age and some non structural osmosis that I'll need to sort in the next 3 years or so.
I'm pretty happy with her and it will be my livaboard as I learn to sail. Can't wait to get out on her.

Do the runners/checks only tension the inner forestay or are they used for stopping the mast pumping too?

Hey Ben...

The stays are purely to prevent the pumping when sailing to windward in choppy seas I'm told. No need for them when running with the wind so no fear of brining the mast down during an accidental gybe. A couple of C42 owners I've spoken to note that they barely need then in protected seas.

Will try to catch you when I can mate to get some tips out on the Tamar.
