IMHO the toe rail isn't pronunced enough to show of the sheer and that sheer stripe does the job admirably

Yes breaks it up and make her look lower in the water with the pinstripes. Maybe in 10 years I might respay and spray on stripe. Vinyl stick on stickers are really not a good alternative to painting but easy to apply..

She's a nice looking craft, I agree with Woko, the stripe gives her more definition around the gunwale. Some dark wrap between the cabin windows to make them look like one long sleek section might be cool too!

I agree something around the windows may finish her off. I was going to make polished s/s frames. Be aware any dark colour stickers or pinstriping will get very hot and break down over time hence why I'm replacing mine.

Been following you , Southy and kept to myself because you are doing such a great job.

I agree on the stripe.
As for the windows
. They are pretty sleek, so I would go along with Stockie and just fit a black section between the windows so they are not broken and make a line that reflects the stripe. Something "around " the windows will make them look bigger.
In the end it will look great no matter what you decide.

Thanks she's nearly done ready for cruising. I hate the windows due to being Perspex/lexen. Personally I would love to remove them and fit tinted glass. But that's another B.o.a.t job so I might just maintain them how they are.

Don't get me thinking again ! If anything I would just apply a full length of Perspex over the existing but the problem is can't clean up the sika if it squeezes out inbetween the two from the inside. Flush windows are a hassle .

I hope I don't add another job to your list, she look great already honestly, and it is easy for us to sit here and comment. But...

When you do play with the windows, I'd put a continuous section as you suggested, and paint the section between the windows black, as well as the overlap around the windows, then use the appropriate black sealer, I thinks that's what they do on the boats, makes the boat look long and sleek!

if you use good plastic it should last fine, the plastic on my Bav is still looking good, after 12 years

HI Southace,
I was drawing up the boat, so I thought I'd use the opportunity to do a before and after shot of using black in between the windows.
Sorry I had to substitute your hull shape mate, I didn't know what yours was :) but I thought it might be interesting just to get a comparison between all black and separate black on the cabin top sides regardless of the hull form.
Cheers!

HI Sam,
Yep, I think you and Stockie have a point, a single unbroken bit of black does make a boat look longer.
Who woulda thunk it? I'm not very good at this sort of thing, so it's all rather interesting!

Imho the 2 windows each side should be left exactly as they are, they look perfect. Firstly if one gets damaged you don't have to replace the whole lot just 1/2 of that side. Secondly the windows are a planar material so they can bend about the vertical axis or twist about the other longitudinal axis - if the cabin side is not able to accept the window and is a compound curve the whole window in one won't sit flush without high fastener tension - and this could crack the window. I have a Compass 750 with single piece over 2 windows and there is a pop out bulge at the top about 1/3 the way out where the cabin side is obviously a compound curve - it created a leak spot which was filled.

As I mentioned to Southace earlier I put up the following pics on FB and asked my friends for their opinions & preference. The vote was a huge majority said go with the one long window.
However, due to the nature of the windows, 1/2" safety glass, and the frames IMO it would look good from a distance but from different angles & close up it would look a bit "shabby". Also the fact that the admiral liked the 3 windows I have left as is!!

Yes the pin strip makes the boat look lower in the water . I,m going though the same decisions at the moment and i,m going with no pinstripe , for ease of everything. if it looks like its sitting higher it may feel that way too ! :)
