No, didn't mean that you paid 2600 Euros for one, I had a look at one on the net and that was the price in Germany. Seemed like a heck of a lot of money to pay for basically a food heater.

I think thats why they went broke some one else has taken them over now
If I have to Ill drive up and get it.
I lived on a sea wind 24 for a few months with a one burner gas bottle . the Taylor it was not on my budget. But when I saw it and thought about it I justified it .I went with out for a few weeks ,next pay I can afford some more wire to get on with the wiring

Very messy fuel to cook with it will stink the boat out and the jets always block.
I aiming for force 10 gas never wanted gas but have been using it on new boat and my mentors Lin & Larry used gas for over 40 years. they recently did a interview where they said the Hisscocks used kerro and there boat was so full of soot they decided to only ever use gas

its all about choices and what I want for me no gas on board Ive seen what it can do as Ive said before while at the Melbourne exhibition build years ago at the car show I went to a wing in the building to buy chips the area would have been around 8 meters by 4 meters while waiting to be served not sure what happened but the was a large flash of fire the full width of the floor area and around 400 cm high after seeing that Ill never have gas on board a boat but that's my choice. There is a local sailor down here that owns one and he is going to run me through the ins and out of the Taylor stove also a UK sailor has given me some good advice as well. The is also a company in the UK that has made a updated version for the burners that fit a multitude of Paraffin stoves. Ill sort it out . 5 gallons of Kero will run that stove for over 12 months one less port to call for gas if you run out . In colder climate some people once they fire the stoves up they run them all day on low . There not every one choice thats for sure Born free
Ill be getting rid of the carpet on the cabin roof before I fire it up Ha ha

These day the gas stove have really good safety features and there rock solid I admit and as long as you make sure every thing is in good shape you would have no problems. Ill probably row to shore and light a fire born free Ha ha after trying to light it for an hour or so The previous owner is fitting gas

One of the other things i eould like to fit is a solid fuel fire that is a long way down the wish list. every time i light the gas i worry have always used meths but i have had some very bad flare ups with that to scary

I got one going ok but the other needs some work

You buy them off people who have finally had enough of their cabin sooting up from leaky kerosene burners and have fitted a gas stove.

Seriously, I reckon kerosene stoves are one of man's best inventions. The trick is to use the best quality kero and to service the stove regularly.

The problem is getting parts for them. You won't find them at the green or blue sheds, that is for sure.

Second Wind has one of the best marine stoves ever built which is a Kiwi built "Mariner" but it is a gas stove with two top burners, an oven burner and a griller burner.

I had a Taylor Marine kero stove on a previous boat and it was a beautiful piece of kit. Just hard to get spare parts.

If you ever get one, do not let an untrained landlubber go near it. They will have a fire going in no time.

Theres a guy down here at the wooden boat shop who owns one to and hes offered to give me a run down had one for years If you light the burner correctly and good quality Kero should be ok with a good service every 12 months
some people use jet fuel kero if you can get it . Might ask Richard when he comes over next for a beer

There is a company called www.Base Camp.com in UK and they have made an updated version burner for Kero or Paraffin stoves and they fit the Taylor stoves plus they also fit other stove apparently they have been working on it for a few years . I have there email address also an other company has taken over Taylor marine spares (bought them out )

The base camp link came from a forum and read on there how the new improved base camp burner worked better and had less trouble that the original Taylor burner
