From what I know he launched from the beach normally but a gust must have got him.
He didn't end up on the road but apparently travelled 30m about 3m off the ground and landed on the only concrete step amongst the grass - poor guy. He ended up on the edge of the grassy rigging area and nowhere near the road.
If anyone knows the guy I think he was by himself and we think he was from Sandgate and had been down at Shearwater yesterday as well. He is at the hospital, my guess would be Southport, so I hope his family or friends find him as he was not talking. PM me if you are know him as I believe we have his name. GC.
Here is hoping his injuries are superficial, however he seemed to have taken a fair knock . I wish him the best.
Yes what Rustle said pretty well explains it correctly as to what happened and the discription he gave of the poor guy is accurate. I was there and involved in the assistance as well as many others who should be praised for their actions and assistance (the human spirit certainly kicked in). I cannot mention the chaps name as Gold Coast Hospital are in the process of being in contact with his family members. A person who was involved attended Gold Coast Hospital out of his pure selfless concern and was informed that the Hospital cannot release much information as he was not a family member which is understandable. Except that they mentioned the chap in question had not regained conciousness at this point and they the Hospital are running some tests. I'm sure I speak for everyone in concern that our thoughts and prayers go out to this guy and his family that his condition will improve and he recovers from this unfortunate incident.
