Hi, I am moving to brisbane at the end of the year from Perth.

Beginner rider, 55-60Kg...(& a Gemini hehe) will be going anywhere between Sunny coast and Gold coast.

Is there a Kitesurfing Season? What strength winds are usual? I am looking at buying an Airush DNA or FLOW at this stage. Would I be best suited to a 7m or 9m for SE QLD conditions?

Thanks for your help!

hey chelsea, you can expect good winds at this time of year in brisbane and both coasts, usually nor easters around 15- 20 knots sometimes 25+, followed by a storm then a southerly change for a day or 2 then swing back to the north, i think you will be fine with either size kite for these wind strengths up to your experience really and what conditions you are comfortable in,hope this helps, rob

Great choice in kites - get the 09 Flow if you can, or even the 08, but try to avoid the 07 - it is a bit of a truck. 9m would be the preference I think. I doubt a 7m will have you going too well until 17+ knts, you might be able to do better once you gain some experience, but generally you need more power when learning.

Generally the winds are lighter overal in Qld than WA and you can expect a lot more days around 14-18kts. If you go with just a 7m you will be spending many hours wishing you had the 9....

How about a guy 75 - 80kg's. I'm heading from Airlie to Byron bay and want to kite as many spots as possible (any recommendations) I have the choice of a 10m Flow and and a 14m Rebel.

Only have room for one kite unfortunatley. Any help?
