Was just thinking about that myself, I wonder if the Caloundra river mouth would be any good. Problem with these westerlies so close to town is the building ruin the air till it gets off shore.

One game kite surfer off happy valley at mid day today. He got a bit nervous as the wind dropped and wisely called it quits. Wind needs to be south to southeast to safely kite the passage mouth. That said you could always become a pole dancer and join the merry crew that were sailing there all morning.

Nowhere!!!. If your keen go to Bribie for a kite or buy a sup. Its just not worth the embarrassment having someone come rescue you.

I was down at Bongaree yesterday as the WSW picked up to a pretty solid 25knots.

It was really choppy and the wind was pretty much directly on shore, so relatively safe as far as getting blown out to sea is concerned. Apparently it works WSW - SSW and I've heard that there can be a pretty decent current.

As far north as you can get, I suggest Cairns or Cooktown are the best place to be when its blowing westerly in Brisbane. Failing that you want to drive around the south Western end of bribie.
