Living northside I've only heard & seen about the sunshine spots. Can anyone confirm or deny the following and advise what the GC spots are like

Beachmere. - pretty much like Mudgate

Read something about it in the forum rules once, but now when I look at the rules there are about more 20 pages.

Depends on the day and the people and that goes for any site these days. Sadly it seems to hard these days for alot of people to help launch and land at any spots and it's probably not 'cool' to get a landing or help launch someone. I always offer to any other kiter for either.

Kawana. - you'll be on your own with large swell
I have only had large swell (by SEQ standards) about 4 times in two years (genuine 6ft plus). Usually its 1-2 ft mush and now and then 3-4 foot ok. Very easy and not many flagged areas to avoid on the downwind run for about 10ks.

Caloundra - river mouth only works on an in coming tide
Wrong. Actually its passage not a river too! Works on outgoing tide and work roughly off Brisbane tide times as a start.
But, if you go up the passage a bit to Golden beach (about 1-2k from the mouth) it is flat water and works on incoming tide in s-se etc.


Beachmere. - pretty much like Mudgate
Not really. Much Clearer water and nice and peaceful. Worth a drive in se-ne if you like flat water and to get away from clown town.

Just keep in mind. You may find a spot that is uncrowded or does not have anyone kiting at it. Ask yourself the question why and find out the answer before hitting the water. You dont want any nasty surprises when your 100m off the beach
