Has anyone visited up that way during the winter and had an epic run of wind? From my past experience last year and from what I can decipher from some of the older posts, my experience of "almost good' was typical. Someone tell me I'm wrong...please. I gotta go somewhere that doesn't involve a month's wages and soon. If these conditions on the Gold Coast continue, I may be looking at taking lessons again. That's a joke, but only just.

Went to Port Douglas 12 months ago for a week and had about 4-5 hrs of good wind ( over 20 kts ) .The whole time we were there was a strong wind warning ..?
To get the consistant good winds you need to go highter than Cooktown.
