Looking to do a 7-10 day kiting vacation and found some info about whitsundays being good in May. Looking for a place that offers accommodation, info on local conditions, and meals are bonus. I'm an intermediate kiter who will be traveling solo so a "kite camp/safari" type of setup is ideal.

I would say ignore the Islands and road trip between Townsville to Mackay, kite Pallarenda, Alva Beach, Bowen and Mackay.
Can pick up some backpackers in Airlie if you feel the urge
Of course the wind might not blow, has been a funny year so far...

Unless you have a gorgeous kiter next to you like in this video, the Islands are a real pain to organise, plan and execute a worthwhile kite trip.

Stick to the mainland spots Rails mentioned. You'll get a lot more air time.
