Probably end up around sunshine coast actually. Really looking forward to getting into some decent waves (with kite). Winds probably a little lighter than i was expecting, but on a surfboard that amount is fine. Plus im planning to get into foilboarding this summer.
Biggest kite is a 12. Guessing good to have something bigger? I weigh 76kg.
I am travel anywhere between Brissy and Cairns, and I've seen just about every spot to kite. The BEST spots are on the Pacific side of an island like Hamilton Island. Woah there is wind there!
But for most of us, the best places are those facing the trade winds (E-SE facing). Forget spots between you and an island, as the winds wrap around these things and are either not there (wind shadow) or are too gusty.
Winds (as in any decent wind) are on and off between 15 to 22knots. Hardly ever I've seen a 25knot + day in QLD.
So yeah a 12m is about the minimum around here. Take a 14m or bigger if you can
