Hi folks,

I'm suffering of a kiteboarding addiction! So I came from Germany to Australia to travel along the coast, go kiteboading and see as much as possible of your country as possible.
Right now I'm staying in Labrador, Gold Coast and had my first sessions at Shearwater and KFC - nice spots and people!
I'm planning to go up the coast for the next few weeks with my Ford Econovan.
I already checked the map in this forum (nice!!) but do you have any recommendations on my way north and which spots I shouldn't miss?
And the most important question: Anyone interested in joining me?? The passenger seat is still free!

noosa and caloundra rivermouths and downwinders anywhere on the sunshine coast

Hey mate sounds like an awesome trip!

Depends what you're after. Flatwater or wave?
I like flatwater so I'll tell you my favourite spots:

Maroochydore river mouth (sunshine coast)
- unreal on a northerly, glassy flat water
- also great on SE to E on outgoing tide - flat again

Happy valley (sunshine coast)
- this is the river mouth of Caloundra river
- great on SE to E with outgoing tide - glassy flat

Elliott Heads (Bundaberg) - my home town - 5hrs north of Gold Coast
- also a river mouth
- flat water from mid to low tide
- less people than sunshine coast and gold coast and no boat traffic or jetskis
- works on SE to E (the prevailing winds in summer)

- if you get a big full tide (i.e. >3m - e.g. when there's no moon) a lagoon is made about the size of a few football fields and is about knee to waist deep...crystal clear water, butter flat wind direction SE to E - best spot I've seen for flat water


Other spots that I have heard are good for flat water
- agnes waters river mouth on a northerly(this I about 2hrs drive north of bundy) - there's an awesome backpackers called Cool Bananas - last time I went up there the place was full with about 20 germans!
- double island point - has a lagoon so flat water - I hear the wind needs to be westerly (I've been there on a northerly and there was nothing) - requires 4WD to get to but the journey in itself is half the fun - drive up along the beach for 40km!
