If it's any consolation it hasn't been much better in South East Queensland either. We were meant to have a 20+ day on Sunday but all we got was about 12knots just before dusk... VERY disappointing...
They are forecasting another good day this weekend, so I'm hoping they can get 1 in 2 right at least.
Depends on how you're reading the forecast. The seabreeze arrows and the BoM marine text forecast are averages for that particular wind zone which usually covers hundreds of miles north/south and at least 10 miles east/west. So in the case of SEQ on Sunday it was blowing well over 20kts offshore but 10-20 inshore, take the average of that and its right on the money. The probability of an averaged forecast ever being right for the point you are standing is remote unless the wind strength is uniform across the whole sector.
If you want to know what the wind is going to be doing inshore for your area start looking at either the 8 day NOAA model (GFS) which I think Seabreeze uses or the BoM 3 day model (ACCESSR) which I think is pretty good. People have their favourite models but I've found the BoM one to be spookily accurate 24hrs out from 0 to 50 miles offshore all up and down the QLD coast.
