Hi All,
Currently living in Gladstone near Tannum Sands and was hoping for some beginners advice; I’m keen to learn to kite surf this summer.

I have experience board riding, but not kite flying. I read that the first thing that people recommend is lessons. I am happy to get some lesions, if an instructor is operating out of Tannum. Does anyone know if this is the case - contact details would be appreciated?

I do not have any equipment as yet. If no instructors are operating out of Tannum, I was thinking about getting myself a trainer kite and video for some practice, before going out and getting a full kite and equipment etc. However, I spoke to a kite surfer the other day who suggested that this was a waste of money and that I should just get a kite and practice on the beach. I was a bit concerned that this may be too dangerous. Does anyone have any recommendations for a beginner at Tannum?
Thanks in advance.
Gus

Hey,

I cant help with a contact for an instructor in your area, but wanted to say dont waste time with a trainer kite, on the beach is fine for practicing flying the kites. just make sure you have someone with you that knows what there doing with you and practice in lite breeze.
