With all the recent talk about kiting in the wrong places, losing beach access etc. and coming into summer, SAKSA just wanted to do a quick reminder about Bower Rd kiting. For most of the old hacks around the place, you guys know the rules (stay South of Bower Rd - it's that simple) and we thank you for your continued support and also for helping out new comers who don't necessarily know the ins and outs. But for the benefit of the newer crew on the scene...

Kitesurfing at Bower Road has been getting increasingly congested over the last few summers, with a lot of kiters ending up on the North side of bower road in the bay (whether by accident or not). It IS a great spot, but it's also technically out of bounds - SAKSA would like to ask all local kitesurfers to be mindful of the local rules and ensure they do not end up North of Bower rd as the current agreement SAKSA has with the council specifies we do not go North of Bower Road, on the water and off.

If kiting North of Bower Rd continues to be a problem into the coming season, we stand a real chance of losing Port Adelaide Enfield areas altogether... this WILL mean we lose Largs and The Wall, arguably two of the better spots in the Metro region! If you see someone consistently doing the wrong thing please approach them politely and let them know of the local rules which have been specified by the local council, not SAKSA. This council is notoriously difficult to deal with, so we've had to tread carefully of late, to try to rebuild the relationship after some events a few years back.

To avoid ending up downwind of Bower Rd in the bay, remember that there are several good spots between Bower Rd and the Chicken Shop which give great beach access. Recreation parade is less than 2 minutes from Bower Rd (the other side of the Caravan park and Surf Life Saving Club) which is practically deserted, has plenty of parking and has better beach access than Bower Rd does, especially in Summer (less than half the distance to the beach).

Please keep this in mind next time you're kiting in the area and let all your mates know on the beach. Once again stay safe and Happy Kiting.

I am guilty and went out in Henly and then found out after I was in an area of no kite boarding... There were no signs and I asked some blokes in a council truck that said yeah F&%! It go and shred man.. So maybe wondering if there are enough signs at the carparks to designate kiting go & no go areas??

Pretty straight forward, Break the rules and risk the whole beach being bannned. Bower rd to Outer Harbour.

Well you don't have to worry big fella because I was at Henley in 30 knots on a **** spring day and the only bloke out..

This is the old bikini weather vs kiting weather trick.... If bikinis are on the beach, you can't kite, once the bikinis leave its windy enough to kite and you have the whole beach to yourself.

Unless you are a sporting bikini kiter........................
