Have been using the Duotone/North Rope slider kit for about a year now and it has been absolutely destroying the rope.
I am about to replace the rope for the 3rd time and I don't kite every day.
I like the rope slider set up but am disappointed with the very short life span on the rope.
Using a low friction ring is one option but negates the reason for having the slider kit.
Does anyone have any good suggestions?
TIA

Rope is cheap, what is the problem, not in the scouts to learn a granny knot?
I also have one and use a second one slightly looser than first as a backup .......
Just keep up your maintenance ....

Ion harnesses have a steel slider option that should be more durable:

Comes with both single and double strap option so may fit your Ride Engine harness.

Helpful....

I had the same problem, having to replace the rope every 3 to 6 months, proper pain in the arse. I expect my kiting gear to last at least 12 months with just regular washing as maintenance.

I ended up using an old harness safety line, not sure of the exact term, the plastic covered line at the back of a lot of harnesses. Slides well and it's been going well for a while now.

I dont use sliding rope but I do use a Dynabar with the swiveling hook accessory. I cant see any reason that you couldn't slip a polyurethane
tube over the rope to stop wear... in the same way that most manufacturers do over the main line that travels through a control bar. It will probably increase the friction a little which may or may not be a problem. I did the opposite and took the polyurethane cover off the mainline on a Ikon bar I have to decrease any tendency to binding, so it will be easy to put some on your rope slider. Also if you rub wax on the rope regularly it appears to not wear, although it probably is just the broken fibers on the exterior of the rope being sealed into the body.... but it does make it LOOK smooth and unworn.
