Welcome to Sydney.

Mostly wave riding is done on the Northern Beaches (Longreef, fishermans, Narabeen, Palm Beach) unless you want to go south of botany bay. Trouble is wind on Northern beaches is not the best, particularly in NE wind is can be a handful of knots lower than the wind at the airport and Kurnell.

Size of kite depends on your weight and size of board, but if you are over 80, I doubt you will be able to make do on your smaller kites, I only get to use my 8 a couple of times a year (on the Northern Beaches) In my view you will need a 12 or 13 as your main kite, and a 10 as well, but depends on your skill and sizes.

Being winter now it’s mostly the gusty southerlies. If it’s off shore North West try Kurnell, probably windiest spot in Sydney, but no waves, just chop.

Hi guys

Thanks for the insight. I am 76kg. Great vid by the way. All I need now is to buy a kite pump as there was absolutely no space for that in my bags.

I will working in North Ryde, but that should be close-ish to North Beaches. Oh - also - buy a car in the next couple of weeks to actually get to the beach!

The further south you head from the harbor bridge the windier it gets.
Most crew around wanda ride 9m > 11m and ride all sorts of surfboards.
Wind can be 15knts - 30knts with 1-4ft surf and all in boardies and tshirt in summer.

maybe the Flows are falling apart and the Reos haven't? Still Leo shouldn't be using Ozones if he is loyal to these Flow guys.

After 4 months in Sydney.... I found some gems. The northern beaches tend to be a bit light though with wind compared to Wanda. Also went up to Lake beach (near nora head) last weekend. Great spots.

The downwinder from Birdie Beach to Norah Head is also awesome. You can generally get a couple of runs in in an afternoon.

Ah... Birdie beach! I camped there a few weeks ago. Wind was too light, but it looks like an amazing (and safe!) downwinder from Norah head to Birdie beach - all sand.....
