is it normal that since I have started learning to kite this year I have had a strong urge to quit my job, apply at centrelink and just become a bum?

Is that normal?

More cashflow = More toys = More Boost.
If you destroys your legs sufficiently on the weekend you should need a few days to recover anyway.

Sure is :), I took up kitesurfing at the end of uni & then took a 3 month leave of absense after 5 months working in my new job to chase the wind.

Lucky they still wanted me back afterwards

Yep its normal ..... But as wishy said more cash = more toys
It would be pretty hard to pay for fuel ( to chase the wind) kites, boards and the mandatory after kite beers on a dole check.

We are quite lucky in Vic, with daylight saving from Oct - April we can easily get a few mid week sessions in to satisfy the urge.

i guess being casual on the mines is a good balance between working and being a total bum

people who complain about working for the "the man". Why dont u change ur situation and become "the man". i work for myself and have never been happier do what i want when i want more work involved but when theres wind or waves or a trip away i can go without worrying about "the man".

P.S I am a drug dealer if anyone was wondering and or wants any gear.

I'm extra lucky, after chasing wind for years, initially windsurfing, met a girl who was into it as well (and kiting) moved next to the beach and settled into a life where holidays are based on kiting locations, and summer days when my wife, yes she was a keeper, sends me text messages when the wind is up or there are kites on the water....

Was a time a drop out surfie could join the 'Bob Hawke Surf Team' and have his wax and fish and chips supplied by the aussie taxpayer.

Kiting equipment is a somewhat more expensive than a Mc Tavish single fin, ahimsa board cover and rubber legrope however.

Where do i get one of those? mine seems to have an internal fun police mechanism. As soon as i exceed what she deems is acceptable fun levels. Rage!....
