Looks like I will be able to get the weekend off afterall.

So is anyone else planning on makeing a weekend of it?

Which is better to stay at Lanno or Cervanties? Could camp at Wedge but wind and cheap tents dont work to well in my experience.

I ll make a weekend of it. We could run comp in 1 day so next day maybe do a downwinder from lano to wedge if people are keen too or double elimination over the 2 days! I think cervanties is closer and there is a pub there for Saturday night drinks! Is this the waksa state titles ?

Our head honcho is away for much deserved break so I'll take the liberty here.
The AKSA National Waves are on in W'bool (a very pleasant windy town in western vic) on the first weekend of Feb 2011. The system is that each state is allocated a predetermined no. of entry places for each division based on state membership nos.
WAKSA (being waksa) usually has more places available than aspiring entrants so, in the past, everyone who has wanted to go has had entry guaranteed. With the recent rush of interest in waves this may not be the case this season.
Anyone who is considering making the trek over for the Wave Nationals should apply to waksa@waksa NOW. If we have more interested than allocated places the WAKSA crew will have to determine a seed rating for each applicant based on available records. What records are used to get this seeding initiated is anyone guess as, until now, WA wave comps have been pretty casual affairs. HINT: Getting yourself into the Wedge event would be a VERY good idea.
Im sure the Wedge organisers will make announcements re these issues as numbers continue to swell. We are getting masses of potential entrants in most divisions. Props to those responsible and for interest from members.

Spewin....working all weekend, I'm trying to get out of it but we are severely short staffed ATM and as I have had heaps of time off in the last couple of months it looks like I'm gunna miss out.

I am always keen to do a Lancelin to Wedge downwinder though so if anyone is keen to try and arrange something at another date please contact me.

Out of curiousity though does anyone know what the ages for the different divisions are.

So you do work occasionally!?

Not sure about age groups but the rules specifically state:

No SUPs or other elder care support structures and methods such as zimmerframes, walking sticks or viagra will be excepted.

Damn.

No chance of a sicky then - or is it too soon?

BTW - if attempting a sicky, always run with "Oh geez, I had the dodgiest vindahloo from a really suspect take away last night. Then about 1am my stomach lurched and i didn't know which end it was gonna fly out from so i bolted for the loo and.."
BOSS: "Er.. Yeh - that's ok take as much time off as you want!"

Spose you could always explain the tan as the vindahloo colouring being expelled from ya pores.

Would be a nice way to have a final shack kite celebration as well as a weekend wave comp.

I'd be keen for a down winder from Lano to Wedge too, either on the weekend of the wave event or another or both prehaps ; )

So for everyone not staying in a shack... where's best (and which town has the best pub), Cervantes or Lancelin?

I was rostered to work 13th and 14th but it looks like I have managed to get the 13th off at least, so I'm in!!

I also have the Friday off so if anyone else can make it up and is keen for a downwinder on Friday PM me. Not that it is really needed now if you do the full Lano to Wedge run but I have a 4wd and good knowledge of the area.
