Hi All,

I thought this tip might be useful to those of you who like to go kiting off the beaten track and find yourself without any phone signal.

Long story short, I was desperately trying to get an important SMS sent out while spending the day kiting in a remote area.

I then had the idea of attaching the phone to the central strut of the kite and then fly the kite with the phone up there. To my amazement this worked and I was able to send out those messages (SMS's that can't be sent due to no signal automatically get sent as soon as a signal is present).

If you had more than 1 kite bar you could eventually double the line lengths to get that phone up even higher

I think you are missing the point of being in a remote area!

That is you cant use technology. You are forced not be connected to the web like a zombie.

AMD - Airush Mobile Device

Maybe the kite designers will add a Mobile Pocket on the inside of the leading edge in future models.

You could use your Bluetooth headset if it wasn't flat and you could remember how to pair it. Maybe say
"help I'm stuck in the out back with no phone". Which Siri would probably translate to something like
"hello I'm sticking it in to the back of a pony"

Na, you send it with no signal, once the phone picks up a signal it will send the txt as its waiting to go.

Not with a kite, but I do have a 7m long collapsible fishing pole that I use when out of range.
Put the phone in a little bag at the top.
Bluetooth to the car for calls.
Wifi hotspot for working on a laptop.

Managed to support clients from some pretty remote locations
