Just an observation, but why are both clips in 4:3 and not 6:9? Assuming you have a new camera, almost all of them shoot in 6:9 widescreen these days. Also the footage looks very contrasty, I suggest playing with the settings (in camera) and pulling the contrast and sharpness down a bit. If you need to add it in later you can do that in most video editing programs.

Firstly, its 16:9. And you can tell its in 4:3 because of the black "curtains" on either side of the video. Think about the shape of the picture on your new flat panel HD TV compared to what you had on your old square box CRT TV you owned last century. Thats 16:9 vs 4:3.

To the OP, slow mo is painful to watch. I don't care what fancy tricks you are pulling off, it's boring. Your pics are cool.

The slow-mo function has a lower resolution than the normal speed.
But still pretty good for me just standing there with no tripod, on full auto mode.
Would be heaps better if it wasn't overcast.

To make it a more legit kiteboard edit, I think you need to add about 4 mins of driving to the spot and unwinding lines, followed by about 6 mins with the chicks you posted here:-

... nice camera Moons and definetely a step up from the normal point and shoot camera's, hopefully its got a good built in image stabilizing program or better still mechanical stablizing when you use the full 600mm zoom range, recommend you get a good tripod or you'll get seasick watching the footage (especially after said beers)!!

... make sure you have plenty of memory or storage space, the more the better. Nothing worse than having to sift through footage to make more space, or worse accidently deleting stuff looking for more space!

Ok, don't take this the wrong way... But here is a few tips to help you on this journey...

1. Composition. Mix up your angles and try get something into the background of your shots. Can turn a basic action shot into something a little more intriguing. Also rule of 1/3's.
2. Light. WA is best for photos during the morning. In the afternoon surfers/kiters are backlit, creating silhouettes. There is no detail in a shadow. Also water will be less glarey.
3. Horizons... they should ALWAYS be straight.
4. Shoot RAW and do some post on your shots. Lightroom is pretty straight forward, but has plenty of excellent features. If you haven't discovered RAW yet, this is the best change you can make.
5. Be critical. Quality not quantity. If focus is soft, hit delete.
