I've been using different kite and I always had issues with the bars;
Core: soft chicken finger and chicken loop and always pops out of harness;
Naish 2010: weak center line and faulty safety release
Naish 2009: faulty safety release system

Now I want to buy the perfect bar and use it on a 9m Core GT.

Which one you prefer the most? Ozone or North bar?

That look like an interesting design but my objection to this design is that there is a good chance that you lose the chicken loop in the ocean if it's not connected to your bar (for example during a safety release)

The center line I'm talking about is not the trim line, the line between the trim line and the steel pulley.

Don't worry about fixing the other bars as I sold both of my kites and I want to buy a new Core GT 9m but I'm not sure if it's better to buy an Ozone bar or North bar.

Isn't that 6mm amsteel line, that wears over time and is easily replaced?

Anyway from my POV your decision is simple, get the new GTS and the Core bar, with the fixed chicken thing or I'll include an Ozone harness mounted chicken thingy.

both bars are pretty good, but i went a north trust four line that i use with my core Xr's, the line set up is almost identical to the core bar just doesn't seem to fall apart in your hands like i had with the esp bar. The quick release is light and reliable, the depower strap can be moved easily within arms reach for those with short arms and as i try to unhook a bit the i dont have to continually hook from safety loop to suicide as the north ring has two holes one through the chicken loop and one for your leash so i run the same setup hooked or unhooked.
you will need adapters as the loops and knots are reversed between core and north but as the north lines are 1m longer i just got them shortened and swapped.

That is a single 2mm line which snaps after a boost and will cost $30 to buy a new one for every jump.
BTW Naish rejected my claim and they said I'm too heavy for my kite!!!!

I'm sorry, I don't want to get into this argument that Naish is amazing and I'm using it wrong and how one 2mm line suppose to handle 85kg plus the kick from a jump.
Lets agree that Naish is fine but because of different users opinion I prefer not to use it.

i ride a lot of light wind. (Darwin)... this requires much turning and adjusting of power on the kite, ie sine-ing the kite, while depowering on the upstroke etc etc...
my ozone bar is a 4 line, and the below the bar safety line running thru the bar centre with the main chicken loop line makes this constant adjusting a pain in the ass. the bar doesnt slide easily when not straight... not mad about the chunky depower setup either... of course all this could be fixed relatively easily (i have modified the setup a bit to this end), but why bother??
i find the north bar really simple, solid and functional. (my north bars are 5 line)

2009 or 2010 bar? i understand they made the hole bigger for 2010 (still saving for a catalyst or two)

Ahh that line! Just scrap the Naish one and make one out of 4mm amsteel, or we can make it if you give us the length. I know Moti/Aviv makes up lines now too and that they have that amsteel in stock.

I agree with you totally about actual user opinions and we should all be free to express our own actual experiences and real user opinions without getting jumped on by the team pimp machine. However that line should not snap, its not a line that wears and should last the life of the bar/kite, basically its not thick enough to handle the load if it breaks and it should be covered by the standard 12 month warranty.

Steve, can you please enlighten me on this core finger fix? Im interested as had a few issues myself.

Sure its an easy fix and in reality is not necessary to go to a kiteshop to fix it, its just that I would do it for free with tubing and glue that I have here already.

Take your bar and lines to Bunnings or an Industrial supplies outlet like Blackwoods or maybe Repco?
They should have high pressure plastic air line tubing, you will find a size that fits neatly over the core chicken thing and then just glue it on with silicone or hot melt glue. Make the new bit about 3-4cm longer and the problem will be solved.

The latest Core ESP bars do not have the problem, we got onto this early last year and all the bars supplied since have had the chicken bing/wing/thing cut a bit longer.

oh ok, I do have the 2010 bar and it still pops out from time to time. Ive been putting it down through, then bent back up over the spreader bar which seems to hold it in place better. I guess I could still make it longer.

Was thinking of a new bar for the summer as Im keeping my XR's for another season. The north trust bar looks the goods.

We fix the Core bars a bit differently to Steve in Sydney.

You'll find those little plastic battens you get in the trailing edge of a Best or north kite, fit exactly into the INSIDE of the finger - and keeps it super stuff... Go ask someone at your local beach for one of their spares in the kite bag... They don't work anyway... I've also seen it done with a thin pen...
