I've been working on this board with Fletcher Chouinard at FCD Surfboards trying to create a "step-up" for kitesurfing... Think Gnaraloo or big Margs.

Made specifically for good waves and high speed riding (or if you just like going fast) the FCD "KiteGun" was a board I didn't know that was missing from my quiver. The KiteGun is simply a 6'8/7'0 step up shrunken down to a 5'10 length and has quickly become my board of choice the moment the waves get good. This is now my favorite kites surfing movie. What he is doing is not easy, big fast waves surfing like he is not hooked to a kite.

Thanks! Spot doesn't get good often and even when it is it's hardly forgiving. Gusty winds, shallow reef and the threat of washing through surfers keeps most people on the beach watching, but totally worth it if you score a session like this one.

As far as the board goes, were finalizing all that now, hence the "coming soon" in the blog post. The one in the video is 5'10 x 18.5 x 2.3 and set up as a quad (I normally prefer thrusters but it's working great as a quad). Construction is similar to all of FCD kite construction consisting of Ifoam and glassed with epoxy with a 6s-4-4oz deck x 6s-4oz bottom. They come about 6.5lbs with no pads/fins in them and hold up pretty well.

I just got a 5'10 x 18.25 x 2.25 with a heavier density STRINGERLESS Ifoam with carbon rails to help with torsional flex (same glassing schedule) and a thruster option. It's a touch heavier but honestly I prefer that for this type of board in this conditions. I had my first go on it yesterday and it felt really good. Felt like it squared off the top a bit better and was easier to go rail to rail with the narrower width. Will need more time on it but it has quickly become my new favorite board!

Boards look great. One of the most impressive things about this is how Reo is a goofy foot and pulling off those moves switch in that size of surf. Talent and commitment!

When I found out Reo and Felix Pivec are goofy foot surfers, I wanted to go hide in a corner and cry for a while... If you haven't seen this edit of Reo on his natural tack:
