sounds really odd. I have a 12m boxer thats been treated roughly as 3 people have learned in it, and it still shows no sign of wear. Could be just the kite, so try contacting the person you bought it from

I have an 06 and 07 SHockwave .... build is VERY good. I have had to have a few wear points stiched back up on the 9 but it has had a LOT of use. Overall ... cant fault the stitching etc ... (so far)
The bridle on the other hand .... I have had the same problem with lines snapping where there was wear but the wear did not seem significant !! tongue twister. I contacted Naish and I am in the middle of a warranty claim right now ... they have been helpful so far.

Another thing to check too mate .... or EVERYONE to check for that matter ....

Another issue that I would like to post is that TOP LEADING BRANDS ussually have an after sales policy to backup their products, but in this case!!!!

I've been trying to contact NAISH to [email protected], but unfortunately no success (I've post before, trying to get a mail contact because I couldn't find it in their web page).

I've also tried to solve this question with the store where I’ve bought the kites, but the behaviour was the same, simply don't answer....after a lot of mails they told me that they were waiting for the NAISH GERMAN DEALER to see if they have a spare part for this.....bla bla bla....

I will post all the mails that I’ve exchanged with LONASPORTS so all of you can see for yourselves

Thanks for the advice charl dv the problem is it shouldnt happen with a 10 week old kite that gets flushed regularly.

I bought a Naish Boxer SLE about 10 weeks ago. The kite was new. It gets a fair bit of use and gets treated well. Weeks 1-9 were excellent, the kite flys great etc, etc. Week 10, the bridle snaps causing the kite to loop on the power lines, the safety is inoperable as that is the part of the bridle that broke. I checked the bridle line and there is no wear it just broke. Today went out for a session, 15 to 20 knots, one crash, cold day landed the kite with assistance, 5 minutes after it was put on the ground the bladder bursts through a strut seam. I checked the other struts and another one has broken stitching both in the same place as the other one. They aren't even wear points and the kite hasn't been over inflated. Ive got c kites that are 4 years old and have taken a beating and haven't given me as many problems. I was going to buy a helix or a cult but not if they are the same build quality as my SLE. Please comment if you've had similar problems or if you've had no problems, maybe its just this kite. Might have to dust of the old reliable 03/04 c kites.

I've been using a 9 Boxer SLE as my only kite for the past year-had a bridle line snap-my fault as a line was caught on launch and just cut through it. Also had the seam stitching on one strut come undone-other than that no issues and the kite has had a LOT of use.

Mine was the S2 strut-that is one off from centre strut (same as your by the sounds of it)-it came unstitched along the top seam-the one you see on top of the strut (not canopy side).

No, I didn't bother going for a warranty-couldn't deal with time off the water-just sewed it up myself.

Loco4olas, that's the same strut and same place as mine. I've sent mine away, the place I bought it from is run by a great guy who has given me heaps of his advice and time. If he can get it done under warranty he will. The thing is its not the shops problem but the manufacturer and maybe even just a couple of kites in a batch. I will let you know how I get on when I get it back.

Slightly off topic - but am considering get a Boxer SLE as have heard good things about it - as I am beginner is it possible to move the stopper ball attachment to give more depower when the bar is released?

I just undid the allen screw on the grey bit, moved it up and then screw it in. I moved it back down because I like to have my bar up against it when I walk my kite out. I haven't had to use it yet, the kite has plenty of depower on 2:1 as it is. Its a good kite to get up and going on and has a good wind range.

definitely has a huge wind range... i can get upwind and do jumps in 11 knots easily. But it is prone to oversheeting because of how i have set it up. On a 12m by the way. Havent had a chance to test out the top end yet

Loco4olas, I haven't flown mine 1:1 yet. Is there still a lot of depower when you push past the stopper ball ? I adjusted my lines today so when it comes back I guess I'll find out for myself. We also set up an 06 crossbow 1:1 not sure what will happen as they aren't as adjustable out of the bag as the boxer. I have to say though that the Naish bladders are tough when mine came through the strut the whole LE dumped into it via the octopus system and the bladder only stretched but didn't burst. It needs to be replaced but it was amazing it didn't burst.

I HATED mine on 2:1 and only ride it 1:1-depower is GREAT-it's my only kite from 12 kn up to 25+.

There's HEAPS of depower when you push through the stopper-although I rarely do-I like to ride quite powered so the stopper is really only used as a kind of punch out system for when things go pear shaped or it's REALLY strong and want to really de-power the kite on a wave.

Just don't engage the stopper ball at all when you are learning.
Simply don't use the stopper, then the kite will depower fully when you let go of the bar.

I am fairly certain that all Boxer SLE kites can be fitted with the new naish Smart Loop.
It will be a nice mod, gives a better sliding stopper system and then the grey amsteel wears you can just replace it and not have to buy a new c-loop.
Trimmimg will be below the bar via the mini cleat.
Fully spinning leash if leash is clipped around centre lines, and this will give the same depower as letting go of the bar, pull on leash to get the bar back.

Guy down the beach bought all new 12m boxer sle from SOS with harness etc.

The kite had bladder stitching come undone, leash snapped on him whilst riding it on suicide style, he had a faulty quick release that would not realease and to top it all off, both the harness rings on the side of his harness snapped clean off.

Stitching seemed pretty poor to me but, Then I ride a more quality brand. Not interested in pimping.

Point is he has been put off naish gear for ever now.

Thankfully, he bought the kite through SOS and they covered him with all bits through warranty and he is now stoked on his new kite.

Retailers have their place.
