G'day all - a couple of photos of the course racing at Melville taken from the boat. Sorry if the quality's not so good, I'm new at this! The first race was spectacular, with the wind dropping a bit towards the end of the 2nd race... Pretty successful effort all round though and thanks to Tim and Mark from WAKSA for their great efforts at making it happen!

Well i would like to hear a run down on how the first one went?? WAKSA yet again providing another fantastic event for people to get involved with

I mentally couldnt deal with the dreaded "narrows" so bolted to Floreat for a DW, didnt even have a lift, just pumped up and dissappeared into the sunset. Thank god for kiting, gives me back a little bit of my sanity that gets sucked out of me daily.

Tuesday's race was a fun, fairly informal event. The format was two laps of a 3.6km triangular course using existing buoys around the Swan. There were two heats but unfortunately the wind died during the second.

The first board over the line on heat 1 was a North Race Ltd 2010, the only course racing board entered. The advantage seemed to come during the upwind leg. Kite was a Flexi Ion 2.

It was an excellent start to what I hope will be a successful series.

I believe the next race will be run on Dec 7th. If you have an interest in racing, come along and join in. The more racers there are, the better it will be.

Thanks to Tim and Mark from WAKSA. It's a great start.

I guess you don't really have to have race boards to come and have a go ?

Definitely not SGL.
Race boards will be a specialty item for true racing enthusiasts. WAKSA course racing is all about having fun with your kiting mates on whatever gear you own. TT's or surfboards - all welcome.
Also a great chance to try out a race board for those who may be thinking that way. Im sure there will be loaners available.
