Any tips?

I plan to do a downwinder soon, and it's about an 8km stretch. I think the longest I've ever ridden in a single tack was 3km. 8km would probably bore me to death.

If you find it boring, don't to it?

Downwinders are a great way to practice new shizzle without worrying about losing ground. What ever you're working on, keep working on it. Downloop carving turns? Try putting a few together, that will keep you interested!

If you are in the surf there will be no boredom ..... just great opportunities for riding waves and boosting off ramps.

If you are in the flat you can carve turn, jump, do all sorts of fun things.

Last time I heard the word "durry" was in high school. A long time ago. Is it back in fashion again? Edit: Not trying to offend, just interested in slang, new and old.

If you get serious about it you could do the 8km quicker than it takes you to setup.

I've got a gps tracker watch. You'd be surprised at how far you travel in an average 2 hr session. It's easy to do 30 - 40 km.

Lanno to Wedge, once you duck into the beach and outer reefs a "few" times can be as much as 50kms.

Im missing WA.

QLD is nice, but not so windy.

I just zone out on the long ones, regardless of what people say 30k stretch's to practice 'downloop carving' is boring,
as cauncy said, oceans going to be red tonight

... so you only do 4 to 6 tacks a session,,,,,, not too adventurous,,,,, chuck in some more and see how you go, might be a bit more fun!

My one session record is 116km but I did like a million gybes and a million wiggle abouts on waves! Love geeking out with my GPS watch now!

Fair play. That 245 was both directions. My longest one direction without tacks 45km

I do down winders all the time.

Piss' me off that I have to do the walk of shame to get back to where I started from.

Goal this year is to stay up wind.
