I like his style and versatility,

Unstrapped on the waves where it suits and then strapped when he wants to hit it big and bust out.

Going frontside on the lefts and then frontside on the rights,

thats got to be the ultimate if you really have all the skills ......

to adjust your riding and technique, to best suit the waves on the day - and then make it look like thats the way you ride all the time.

and then to do this for most of us, is such a challenge that the sport will never get boring as you are always trying to master that new skill.

Felix rips........ strapped or unstrapped ..........and he carries everything with a beautiful style and flow which only video and not still photos can show us.
He had dedicated the last decade of his life to one crazy obsessional idea which is surfing waves with a kite as best he can, and it shows.

It is shame some criticise his style as not 'surfing' enough, well 2 points:
Firstly feel free to criticise when you can ride better than him, otherwise shut up. Secondly, I think that is exactly how Mick Fanning or Parko would ride if you put a kite in their hands, and the skills to use it. Power + Speed has made them the best surfers in the world, give them more and they would lap it up.

With Kite-surfing, Speed and power is there on tap so use it..........or can you handle it? The better the surfer the more they look like kiters in the waves. No-one should try and dumbdown kiting because they reckon it doesnt look like surfing enough. In my experience that leads to a lot of guys parking their kite, stalling in a poo-stance with their heads stuck under the white water ........then claiming they got barrelled. In anyone books that looks like s--t. This is Kite-surfing not surfing.

Going out on the flat and then banging a lip looks spectacular - but id rather watch a more surfing approach -

If you ever watch really powerful surfers like Occy surf waves such as Bells or J-bay you'd see them come right out the front onto the flats and then bottom turn straight up into the lip, you need extra speed and power to do that. Not surfing approach? - I guess COs such as Billabong and Firewire that sponsor Felix disagree!
Seriously STFU, stick to commenting on peoples haircuts on http://www.prohaircut.com/talk/ you'll never be able to ride anywhere near Felix's level, no matter how many Ben Wilson wave-riding clinics you go to!

Can't wait to get just a litle better on my surfboard and get into some swell.
I was quite suprised with how easy it was to stay on the board without straps (this is on flat water by the way!) I'm sure swell will be heaps different!
