Is it considered "OK" for me to sneek away after Chrissy lunch at my house and go for a kite
I promise I'll be back for dinner

This was the subject of heated debate at my house last night. My advice - tread lightly around this one, gents.

It's not really 'sneaking away' when mum, dad and the two girls are seen screaming down the street in the Subaru before lunch is served simply cos the SB turned up early.

But for me, the family lunch is on Xmas eve this year, so hoping I leave work on time at midday on Christmas Day I have about 6 hours up my sleeve for a 'quick' session before a bbq dinner, and the bbq start time is negotiable as everyone there kites too

Christmas Day and New Years Day are the best days of the year to go for a surf, as far as crowds are concerned.

As far as going for a kite, it all depends on the fun police.

... its taken a few years but I'm in the clear now, 'cause once the missus got into kiting too, she understands and 'cause she rules the roost, what she says goes, and she says I can go. Adopt the Depends On Wind now if you already haven't, and next year you'll have everyone trained. How good is it if there is wind on Christmas and you get in a stonking kite session, bloody brilliant I tell you!

Way good advise Davidk BTW, tread lightly if your a 'newbie DOWer'!

Cheers,

Robbie

The real question is.... "Is it ok for social engagements to be made without considering the wind?"

If it's windy and you don't kite, the same will be expected EVERY year!
What next, birthdays, anniversaries?

WTF is wrong with men these days????

We sure got the wrong end of the feminist movement.

Reclaim your testicles and TELL that b!tch you are going kiting, you will be home when you are good and done and there had better be a cold beer ready for you or...or you don't want to contemplate what will happen.

Three questions.
1 Who is bigger and stronger
2 Who brings in most, if not all the money
3 Who is smarter

Answer. You, the man

Now go and reclaim what is yours. DO IT!!!

And Puetz, my dear fellow;

I'm doing it the sneaky way...

It's nice weather guys! let's all go to the beach! You can go tanning and with the nice breeze you won't get too hot! What about you guys start building a sand castle while I go out flying a kite?

Nice family christmas outing

One thing is for sure is that wherever you are even if wind isn't forcast it WILL be windy and if you are into waves there WILL be epic swell .So how greatly do you value your nuts if you are a bloke and how many brownie point credits do you have and are prepared to spend .I know that despite another summer of infrequent wind ,lots of home time ,mown lawns time spent together walks at night etc I still have nowhere enough points in the bank to go out xmas day.

What's happened to men?

There was a time, our kind was master of our destiny and our domain.

From what I'm hearing here, most seem to be subservient, surrendering and submissive to 'she who must be obeyed [}:)]'

IMO that's no way to live.

Assert your rights my friends, speak your truth, raise your deep manly voice needed to reinforce your point, stamp your foot if you have to, withhold affection and sex from the beast, yes, believe me.

Go look at your self in the mirror, see how big you are, practice saying this,
"The wind is on, I'm going kiting." in an assertive tone.

Now practice, practice, practice until it's as instinctive as your kite skills.

No one can respect another who kisses their ass.

I want wind on christmas day almost as much for you as for me now Lach.

I can't quite work out why, but the title 'sister in laws new boyfriend' sends a cold shiver up my spine, sending my sensors into full alert mode.
