Hello Scotty100, if you are planning to come to Sri Lanka in January, you will find good wind in Kalpitiya. Here we have 2 kitesurfing seasons, from May to October and from December to March. In January you will need a bigger kite than in summer season. The wind is comming on the afternoon, after 12-1pmm 14-18 knots, but some days it can be stronger up to 25 knots...very steady wind and flat water. Kalpitiya lagoon is pretty ordinary, just to busy these days. An overnight trip to Vella island up there will be one of the best kiting experiences of your life though.
