Mate Try the surf forum this is kiteboarding
As far as I know we don't get river bores in Australia because we don't get big tides. except may northern Western Australia.
There may be some standing waves but you might be better of looking for a flow rider

Tidal bore in croc infested waters of NW WA?

The pic looks like a standing wave, my recommendation would be one of the rivers fed from the great dividing range where they do white water kayaking, eg Nymbodia. Don't get lodged under a tree branch or knocked unconscious on a rock and drown though. Alternatively, maybe there is a weir on one of these rivers that produces a standing wave, again dont drown.

Other option is in high intensity rainfall look for big stormwater outlet and you may find something but also contract hepatitis or leptospirosis.

Yea that fairly big but not quite the 11.42 meters that happen in Derby WA.
Are there any rivers in the area that get tidal bores?

You could try a bar crossing at changing tide

There are some spots on all the northern rivers/hinterland rivers that produce boog waves. Head upstream. Small, fun, mostly full of cow poo. All the damns do too, but they have alot of nice dead trees just down stream which are great for making you disappear for a few weeks.... have fun, but think it through.

Twead makes some great proper waves on big floods but its human poo water at that point. If the ear infection doesnt kill you, bull sharks might

Yeah I've seen some FB videos of kids boogey boarding the standing wave on the Sunshine Coast at Currimundi after heavy rains but wouldn't want to get washed down stream into the ocean. I think in Aus it's an isolated "there at the right time" incident.
