Hi Guys

Just had this idea and thought it might be worth a go on the forums.

I'm trying to get myself some kite gear, but struggling with a lack of funds, so am having a look selling some other bits and pieces. Included in this is my brand new Nvidia 3d vision pc gaming setup, which absolutely rocks my socks off, but mostly sits on the desk unused as I have no time for it, owing to too many other projects and interests.

Would anyone be interested in swapping some kite gear for this system? It includes the 3d glasses and emitter, 120hz 23" monitor and Nvidia Geforce GTX 560 graphics card. I still have all the origional boxes and receipts. Total cost for the lot was about $700, but I would consider breaking it up if you already had a suitable graphics card (any newish Nvidia). It plays most 3D games, but the newest ones look best. Battlefield 3, for instance, looks incredible!

I apologise for putting this in the general forum, but as far as I can tell, you can't just post a message in the buy/sell area. Not sure if there are many gamers on here, but you never know. It is a shot in the dark but someone might be interested!

Cheers

Oh Rick, I can practically taste the judgement in your post! I'll put your mind at ease.

I have had some lessons already, and have another coming up this weekend. I like to talk to people and do a bit of research before making a decision on something like this.

A quick (or not so quick in my case) look at the buy/sell page shows a fair few sub $700 kites. Not top end stuff, sure, but enough to get me started.

I'm not trying to convince people to swap from kiting to gaming. Some people might actually be interested in both! I admit this is not the most likely of forums, but it's worth a try. If they are selling there gear anyway then they have probably already thought about their options for the next bit of kit, I'm sure I won't be depriving them.

As for my time, you'll just have to trust me when I say I think I can manage it OK :-)

Just puting it out there but the average age of kiters here on seabreeze is 54 years old. If you were trying to swap a walking frame or an old Volvo then you might be in business....

No worries Rick, I have a tendency to get overly sarcastic, appreciate the replys here and on the other post.

54 years old, seriously?? My first love is gliding which also has a pretty high average age (probably higher than 54), but I had assumed that kitesurfing would be a lot younger. Guess not.

Also, professor Frink rocks!

Oh yeah, and I wasn't looking for a complete kit for $700 But would be nice to offset the cost a bit.

I'm quite surprised with the average as well? It seems like most kiters are in their twenties/thirties? Not that it really matters.. I have respect for the people in their fifties, sixties that still pick up such an extreme demanding sport. GOOD ON YA!

Have a green thumb to balance out the red thumb fossils..

So long as you have some lessons, then it's a good idea.
