I cant stress the amount of damage that rodentents (namely Fire earth leakage list goes shorts): rats and mice can do to electrical connections and insulation and property. You should address this issuse as soon as possiable The answer is nothing short of Erradication.

I live on an acreage in the bush and have the same problem. Go to a local produce place. They sell rat/mice baits in block form. All I do is lift the manhole cover for the houses roof space and throw a handful up there. Believe me they will find them.

If you need to put them in the liveing areas, you can get purpose made containers for the blocks or just get a chinese container, clip the lid on and cut a mouse hole in one side and put your blocks inside and put in a discreet place.

But you have to admire the ingenious little blighters. I tried a humane mouse trap


But if you only take them to the neighbour's back fence they find their way back. And then they learn! How they can get a piece of cheese from the top end of this trap and escape, leaving behind a sprung, baitless trap, is beyond me.

I get the place inspected and treated annually for general pests. The two I can't control is ants and mice. Ants I can live with as long as they stay out of the kitchen and anyway they protect the place from termites.

The pest control guys tell me plain old snap traps are the best way to control mice. Bait them with nice, fresh peanut butter, the oilier the better so cheaper gluey stuff is best. They love the stuff and they can't just grab it and run. Very effective.

yep, toothy little peckers keep chewing through our land line terminus,
they must be doing well as some are the size of large rats!

gonna use the old cinder block on a rope, .... dropped from great height,
with a sausage roll for bait, (gets at least 3-4 at a go :)

the greased or rotating stick over a bin of water works extremely well also,
Easily catches and kills 10-30 in a weekend,
great for outdoors,
get em before they move in !

Go and grab a couple of carpet pythons let them run free around the house and in the roof and voila!, no more mice.

I got tired of the little metal tab being licked clean everynight so I went to Bunnings and got the most expensive trap on the shelf... a whole $10.

I basically uses castrating rings and the ring ends up around the mouse's neck. Probably not the most humane trap but if I know there is a mouse about it'll be caught within 24 hours on the Nooski.

I took a photo of the first mouse I caught with it because I was completly blown away. Was gonna post it but thought it would be inappropriate.

I used to have chooks and they attracted an infestation of the little ****ers.

No way a feel good trap was going to cut the mustard so I just baited the **** out of the house and although it took a couple of months of sustaine baiting, it got rid of them all.
problem solved.
