If they get off on climbing on a bloated, dead whale who cares. I question why they had to handle the whales tackle though

It turns out the whale can be used for scientific purposes and they needed to take tests. I mean, I would NEVER have thought of that if I saw a whale on the beach.

That only means that JAP's are right ! There is plenty of research to be done on whales dead or alive !

I'm glad I posted here. I did not realised they ignored signs. I also didn't realise they did other things other than just standing on the whale. Didn't know that.

If you tried to "screw" the whale you may be subject to anti bestiality law here in Australia

I don't think they did anything except pose for a pic surfing on the whale. That pic above is an oldy off the interweb.

I live an hour from the 'incident' and can't believe it made national news! Every day living people and animals are harmed...ffs, it's a dead whale! Not what I'd do, but hey - it's original.

Also, whales are in abundance around here close to shore this time of year, migrating close...check out Robdog's vid of a whale & calf at a local point - amazingly close to land!

If I had to hazard a guess, I'd say the penalties are being widely publisised to deter others from climbing on the whale. The reason being that it is is a very dangerous position. As a local who visits the paticular stretch of coast regularly I can say that it is all rocks, cliffs and sharks. There is a sandy beach to the west but as an experienced surf swimmer, I doubt I could make it out through the reefs and around the rocks to get there. I sure as hell couldn't do it in the big waves we've seen rolling into Warrnambool earlier this week.

Slipping off the whale on one side would mean likely drowning or being smashed to death on the rocks. Slipping off the whale to the other side would risk a very real danger of being crushed between rocks and a 40 ton whale.

I don't think the fuss has been about people standing on the whale so much as the danger it presents, especially while large swells have been battering the cliffs and shifting the whale. Personally I don't think the authorities give a stuff about the research as it's been dead for too long. I think they just don't want any human deaths. I could be wrong but it makes sence to me. :)

It's eyes, they made it look life like.. First time I ever looked at a cat and thought poor cat. And it said it was his cat, his pet cat, I thought that was ****ed up, couldn't he have found a stray

my mates cat was annoying me the other day and I thought to myself, geez that would make a good helicat so I'm not 100% against it

I reckon you would be correct.
They should just leave it be and let natural selection run its course.
D!ckheads seem to always find new ways to harm themselves. I'm just a bit over all the nanny state laws they make to protect us from ourselves.

Yes they test explosif and make calculations on how many kilos of tnt you need to blow a whale...... some time they tend to be under and find whale parts all around the place!
