Climate change caused by driving our cars,turning on the computer etc,seemingly is causing the ocean to rise

A one metre rise in the ocean by the end of the century.....a fair few litres of water needed for that to happen!

Now called Climate change and not Global Warming,since evidence if anything the earth is getting colder.

Are there anyone that actually believes that large parts of Freo will soon be under water?

My understanding is that the climate always changes.

Driving cars etc, is accellerating it, but regardless, the climate will change. That's what the climate does.

If it stayed the same, we wouldn't need the word

By burning coal & oil we're releasing trillions of tonnes of CO2 into the atmosphere. We're changing the chemical composition of the atmosphere on a global scale.

If somebody farts in the kitchen, you know it will have an effect...

Rising sea levels eh?
I was thinking about this over the last few weeks because we seem to have been having a lot of extra low tides.
I've surfed over the same reef for over 50 years.
50 years ago at low tide you would lose skin. The water sucks out to about 6 inches deep.
For the last few weeks at low tide, the water is still about 6 inches deep. I'm still losing skin.
You would really think that even if the sea levels were going up only 1 inch every 10 years then by now, low tide would be the original 6 inches plus another 5 to give me 11 inches deep at low tide. I don't lose skin at 11 inches deep so the difference is noticeable.
I came to the conclusion that the Tuvaluvians are stealing all our extra water to submerge their island so they can claim to be climate refugees and demand entry to Australia.
A message to all you Tuvaluvians,.. WE WANT OUR WATER BACK!

So far for the last 50 years I'm finding this claim of dangerously rising sea levels a long way short of convincing.
Unless the rate of rising drastically increases over its present rates, it's hard to see a 1 metre rise over the next 90 years as being realistic.

Yep, the low tides are due to global warming too. More heat makes more water vapor and that makes deeper atmosphere and that retards the moon in it's orbit so it moves a bit closer and that makes the tides both higher and lower. It will keep doing that until it gets so close that it blasts a wake through the atmosphere and we can ride the lunar winds. Shortly after that nothing much will matter any more.

That's my theory and I like it.

The moon is actually doing the opposite, slowly getting into a higher orbit. The moon, with its gravity, drags a tide on the earth towards itself. That would be OK and not have an effect on the moon's orbit, but the earth, takes this tidal bulge and moves it ahead of where the moon is. The once a day rotation of the earth being faster than the once a month orbit of the moon (moon orbit and earth rotation are in the same direction). So the earth is effectively slingshotting the moon into a higher orbit using the gravity of the tidal bulge.

It's the viscous friction of the ocean on the solid earth that allows the rotating earth to drag the tidal bulge ahead of where the moon wants it to be. The other consequence of this friction is that the earth is losing rotational speed. The days are getting longer.

No I don't Pete .... there are so many tunnels under Freo & they all fill daily with the tides , the whole coastline would fill before Freo went mate
