Australia's oldest yacht race, the Kidder Williams Melbourne to Launceston (M2L) has been won by the Adams 12, 'Turbo', in just over 22hrs. She was some 50 minutes ahead of ORCV Commodore's J44 'The Secretary', so it looks like George better have a case a red wine available for all those side bets he was running.

Also clearly, the stronger weather conditions in Western Bass Strait have helped them get there, while their M2H East friends languish around Eastern Bass Strait in barely 5 knot breezes.

No doubt all finishers, which also includes 'Mirrabooka', 'Midnight Rambler' and 'Over Newton' will be showering literally and also metaphorically in the Tamar Yacht Club's awesome new clubhouse and legendary friendliness and hospitality. It sure is one the world's greatest spots with awesome turquoise water.

Such fantastic weather conditions will surely please all the entrants and their support crews and we hope more boats and their crews will make the decision to dip their toe into ocean racing next year. Of course on December 31st, the TYC will run the TasPorts Cup in-shore race, which will complete the three-leg Rudder Cup Series.

Residents and travellers to Low Head or Beauty Point on December 31 will have plenty to see. Please check www.orcv.org.aufor details or visit the Tamar Yacht Club at Beauty Point.

In the end, well done to 'Turbo', who will get their hands on the truly grand 'Rudder Cup' soon enough.
