Since the venue was announced Golden Gate YC has not made any official comment as to whether they will agree to the venue, or revert to their previous stated position that selection of such a nothern hemisphere venue, other than Valencia, would require 'mutual consent'

SNG's statement today says:

'Soci?t? Nautique de Gen?ve, in its role as trustee of the America's Cup and event organising authority, is working with Ras al-Khaimah, UAE, on fitting out the area for the 33rd edition of the America's Cup and on developing the teams' area on Al Hamra Island. The defending yacht club writes to Golden Gate YC to enquire about the arrival of BMW Oracle in order to prepare their team area in good time.'

Had GGYC been serious in their opposition to the venue at Ras al-Khaimah, then it would have been expected that papers would have been filed in the litigation process by now, however two months have elapsed with no out5ward signs of legal action.

Prior to the announcement GGYC were quite vocal in their opposition to a venue other than Valencia.

The letter from SNG would seem to be an attempt to get a formal response from the Challenger, and will no doubt use the delay in taking legal action to rebuff any action now taken by GGYC. Alinghi 5 is currently en route to the venue, and should arrive within a few days.
